B Bile For Cholesterol Crystals  (CRY EX BILE)

Synonyms:  B Bile
Specimen:  Biliary drainage (B Bile). The specimen is collected in a syringe by the physician and should be transported to the laboratory as soon as possible after collection. Remove needle from syringe before transport.
                        Volume:  5 mL
Minimum Volume:  1-3 mL
Collection:  Transport specimen to the laboratory as soon as possible after collection. Maintain at room temperature.
Rejection Criteria:  Improper labeling.
Reference Range:  Negative
Methodology:  Microscopic examination
Test Use:  Determine presence of cholesterol crystals, bulirubin crystals, WBCs, and bacteria.
