Barbiturates, Urine  (BARB UR)

Synonyms:  Barbs, Barbiturates screen, urine
Specimen:  Urine; 3 mL freshly voided random urine in a urine container. For medical use only.
                        Volume:  3 mL
Minimum Volume:  1 mL
Collection:  If not analyzed immediately, refrigerate at 2-8°C for less than 24 hours; freeze at -20°C for longer storage.
Storage:  Refrigerated at 2-8 ° C for less than 24 hours; Freeze if storage longer than 24 hours is required.
Rejection Criteria:  Improper labeling.

Additional Information:  No additives or preservatives are required. Boric acid should not be used as a preservative.
Testing Includes:  Qualitative and semi-quantitative determination of barbiturates in human urine.
