Specimen: | Urine: random 10 mL clean catch or catherized specimen in a sterile urine container. |

Minimum Volume: | 3 mL |
Collection: | Maintin at room temperature for 2 hours or refrigerate at 2-8°C for 2-8 hours. Specimens should be innoculated within 24 hours of collection. |
Rejection Criteria: | Obvious contamination; improper labeling. |

Test Use: | Screen urine to determine if culture is necessary. Culture will be added as a reflexive test. |
Additional Information: | Positive leukocyte esterase, positive nitrite, WBC greater than 5, or any bacteria will indicate a culture. |
Testing Includes: | Appearance, color, glucose, bilirubin, ketone, specific gravity, blood, pH, protein, urobilinogen, nitrite, leukocyte esterase, microscopic examination, and culture if indicated. |
