Specimen: | Stool: 5 grams or 5 mL fresh specimen in a clean leak-proof container.
Preserved specimens are unacceptable. |
Volume: | 5 gm or 5 mL |
Minimum Volume: | 0.5 gm or 0.5 mL |
Collection: | Transport to the laboratory within 2 hours of collection if kept at room temperature.
Refrigerate at 2-8° C if greater than 2 hours.

Rejection Criteria: | Preserved stool, aged specimen, improper labeling, specimen contaminated with urine, specimen on outside of container. |
