Factor VIII Assay  (FACT VIII)

Specimen: | Blood; (1) Blue (3.2% sodium citrate) top vacutainer tube.
Patient should avoid coumadin therapy for 2 weeks and heparin therapy for 2 days prior to testing. |

Collection: | Specimen should be analyzed as soon as possible after collection. Remove plasma from cells and transfer to a plastic aliquot tube for transport.
Store plasma at room temperature for 4 hours; freeze at -20°C for 15 days or
-80°C for one month.
Do Not refrigerate plasma. |
Rejection Criteria: | Clotted; short filled tubes; hemolysis; refrigerated specimens; improper labeling. |
