Specimen: | Blood; (1) Green (lithium heparin) top vacutainer tube, SST or plain red top tube. |
Volume: | Full primary tube |
Minimum Volume: | 0.5 ml whole blood or plasma |
Collection: | Transfer plasma or serum to a tightly capped plastic aliquot tube within 2 hours of collection if testing is delayed.
Maintain specimen at 20-25°C or refrigerate at 2-8°C for 3 days; freeze at -20°C for 12 months. |
Rejection Criteria: | EDTA samples; improper labeling or failure to spin down and separate as soon as possible. |
