Blood Gas with Ionized Ca  (ABG ION CA)

Synonyms:  Arterial Blood Gases with Ionized Calcium
Specimen:  Arterial heparinized (sodium or lithium) whole blood in a sealed syringe. Needle must be removed from syringe prior to submitting specimen for testing.
                        Volume:  2 mL whole blood
Minimum Volume:  500 microL whole blood
Collection:  Maintain anaerobic conditions. Place specimen on ice and transport to the laboratory immediately for testing.
Rejection Criteria:  Clotted specimen; improper labeling.
