Specimen: | Arterial heparinized (sodium or lithium) whole blood in a sealed syringe.
Needle must be removed from syringe prior to submitting specimen for testing. |

Collection: | Maintain anaerobic conditions. Place specimen on ice and transport to the laboratory immediately for testing.
