Blood (Occult), Urine  (U/A (cannot order separately))

Synonyms:  Free Hemoglobin, urine, Occult blood and microscopic
Specimen:  Urine; random 10mL in a urine container.
                        Volume:  10 mL
Minimum Volume:  100 microL
Collection:  Maintain at room temperature for 2 hours or refrigerate at 2-8°C for 4 hours.
Rejection Criteria:  Obvious contamination; improper labeling.
Reference Range:  Negative
Methodology:  Bayer Atlas or Clinitek 200+
Test Use:  Detects possible bleeding in urinary tract due to infections, trauma, or neoplasm. Positive results may also be seen in transfusion reactions, hemolytic anemia, paraxysmal hemoglobinuria, poisonings, or severe burns.
