Chlamydia/Gonococcus/Trichomonas by Nucleic Acid Amplification, NAA  (CT/GC/Trich)

Synonyms:  CT/GC/Trich
Specimen:  Endocervical specimen collected by gynecologist; APTIMA Combo 2 swab collection device. Patient collected swabs (in a clinical setting); APTIMA Combo 2 swab collection device. Urine; Minimum 5mL and no more than 30 mL of first-catch initial urine stream (dirty catch) collected in a sterile urine container or transfer urine to the APTIMA urine specimen transport tube within 24 hours of collection. Gynecological specimens collected in PreservCyt solution; APTIMA specimen transfer kit.

Rejection Criteria:  Incorrect collection, inappropriate source, or incorrect collection unit. Specimens collected on adolescents less than 14 years old WILL be performed at LabCorp. Urine – more than 30 mL of urine is too dilute to test.
Reference Range:  Negative for Chlamydia/GC and Trichomonas
Methodology:  Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (NAAT)
Test Use:  Diagnosis of Chlamydia trachomatis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae or Trichomonas infections
Additional Information:  Age limit – Specimens collected on adolescents less than 14 years old WILL NOT be tested by AnMed. These will be sent to LabCorp. First catch female urine specimens are acceptable but detect up to 10% fewer organisms.
Testing Includes:  Chlamydia trachomatis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae and Trichomonas vaginalis. May be ordered separately.
