WBC Differential Manual  (WBC W/DIFF)

Synonyms:  WBC Manual Diff
Specimen:  Blood; (1) Purple (EDTA) top vacutainer tube OR (2) Purple mictrotainers and (2) peripheral smears.
                        Volume:  Full primary tube
Minimum Volume:  2 Purple microtainers
Collection:  Transport whole blood to the laboratory within 4 hours of collection. If this is not possible, prepare 2 peripheral blood smears. Maintain specimen and slides at room temperature for 24 hours; refrigerate at 2-8°C up to 48 hours.
Rejection Criteria:  Clotted specimen; age of specimen; improper labeling.

Additional Information:  This test will only be ordered if "manual" diff is indicated on order.
Testing Includes:  WBC count; neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, basophils, and eosinophils.
