Urinalysis Diagnostic with Culture if indicated  (U/A CUL)

Specimen:  Urine: random 10 mL clean catch or catherized specimen in a sterile urine container.
                        Volume:  10 mL
Minimum Volume:  3 mL
Collection:  Maintin at room temperature for 2 hours or refrigerate at 2-8°C for 2-8 hours. Specimens should be innoculated within 24 hours of collection.
Rejection Criteria:  Obvious contamination; improper labeling.

Methodology: 
Test Use:  Screen urine to determine if culture is necessary. Culture will be added as a reflexive test.
Additional Information:  Positive leukocyte esterase, positive nitrite, WBC greater than 5, or any bacteria will indicate a culture.
Testing Includes:  Appearance, color, glucose, bilirubin, ketone, specific gravity, blood, pH, protein, urobilinogen, nitrite, leukocyte esterase, microscopic examination, and culture if indicated.
