Specimen: | Vaginal pool fluid: 500 microL Anal specimen:(1) swab in 1-2 mL sterile saline in a sterile tube. |
Volume: | 500 microL or 1 swab |
Minimum Volume: | 1 drop |
Collection: | Keep specimen warm to prevent rapid decrease in motility. Transport to the laboratory immediately (should reach the laboratory within 1 hour of collection). |

Test Use: | Determine the presence or absence of sperm, and motility if sperm are noted. |
Additional Information: | Test is performed as medical only. Legal specimens should be collected as part of a Sexual Assault protocol and submitted to SLED with chain of custody. |
