Rubella Antibody  (RUBELLA)

Synonyms:  German Measles Antibody
Specimen:  Blood; (1) SST (serum separator) or Red (no preservative) top vacutainer tube.
                        Volume:  Full primary tube
Minimum Volume:  200 microL serum
Collection:  If a tube other than a SST is collected, transfer serum to a tightly capped plastic aliquot tube for transport. Refrigerate at 2-8°C for 5 days; freeze for longer storage. Occasionally, a sample will produce equivocal results on this assay for immunity. If this is the first time a patient's sample produces an equivocal result, a new sample should be submitted.
Rejection Criteria:  Excessive hemolysis or lipemia; improper labeling.
Reference Range:  Immune or Non-Immune
Methodology:  Enzyme - linked Fluorescent immunoassay
Test Use:  Aids in evaluation of immune status for Rubella virus
Additional Information:  Occasionally, a sample will produce equivocal results on this assay. If this is the first time a patient's sample produces an equivocal result, a new sample should be submitted. If this has occurred previously, the sample will be sent to reference lab f
