RPR (VDRL)  (RPR)

Synonyms:  RPR, RPR (NSP), VDRL
Specimen:  Blood; (1) SST (serum separator) or Red (no preservative) top vacutainer tube. Titers will be performed if test is reactive. MHA-TP is suggested follow-up of reactive samples.
                        Volume:  Full primary tube
Minimum Volume:  2 mL serum
Collection:  Refrigerate at 2-8°C for 14 days.
Rejection Criteria:  Hemolysis; lipemic; gross bacterial contamination; improper labeling.
Reference Range:  Nonreactive
Methodology:  Manual: Charcoal flocculation
Test Use:  Screen for reagin antibody for diagnosis of syphilis
Additional Information:  Reactive specimen should be confirmed by specific test, MHA-TP
Testing Includes:  Screening test for reagin antibody with titer if reactive test.
