| Specimen: | Urine; 24 hour urine collection in a 24 hour container with 30 mL 6N HCl preservative. Patient should be instructed how to collect a 24 hour urine.
Patient Preparation: Avoid vitamin C suppplements and vitamin C rich foods (eg, citrus fruits like oranges, orange juice; vegetables like broccoli, tomatoes, peppers, potatoes) for 48 hours prior to collection.

| Collection: | State patient's age, sex, and total 24-hour urine volume on the request form and specimen.
Submit at least 100 mL urine aliquot.
Oxalate in acidified urine is stable following collection at room temperature or refrigerated at 2-8°C up to 7 days. |
