Collection: | Transport the 72 hour collection to the laboratory as soon as possible after collection ends.

Test Use: | Distinction of osmotic from nonosmotic secretory diarrhea. A large deficit (>50M OSM/Kg) in the calculated osmolabity (twice the sum of the stoool for sodium and stool for potassium) from the measured stool osmolality indicates osmotis diarrhea. |
