Immunoglobulin G, Subclasses (1-4)  (IGG SUB)

Synonyms:  IgG subclasses; IgG1, 2, 3, 4
Specimen:  Blood;(1) SST (serum separator) or Red (no preservative) top vacutainer tube.
                        Volume:  Full primary tube
Minimum Volume:  1.0 mL serum
Collection:  If tube other than an SST is collected, transfer serum or plasma to a tightly capped plastic aliquot tube within 2 hours of collection for transport. Refrigerate at 2-8°C for up to 8 days; freeze at -20°C within 24 hours of collection for longer storage. State patient's age on request form.
Rejection Criteria:  Incorrect storage; gross lipemia; hemolysis; improper labeling.

Methodology:  Immunologic
Test Use:  Study patients with recurrent bacterial infections or allergy.
Additional Information:  There are four subtypes, of which IgG1 and IgG2 comprise 85% of the total. IgG1 and IgG3 fix complement best; IgG3 is hyperaggregable and effects serum viscosity disproportionately.
Testing Includes:  Specimen sent to LabCorp. LabCorpTest # 209601. Quantitation of IgG1, IgG2, IgG3, IgG4, and total IgG.
