Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, Qualitative  (HCG URINE)

Synonyms:  Urine Pregnancy Test
Specimen:  Urine; random first morning urine is preferred. Collect in a urine container.
                        Volume:  10 mL
Minimum Volume:  1 mL
Collection:  Refrigerate at 2-8°C for 48 hours; freeze at -20° C for longer storage.
Rejection Criteria:  Obvious contamination; improper labeling.
Reference Range:  Negative
Methodology: 
Test Use:  To confirm pregnancy.
Additional Information:  In normal pregnancy, hCG can be detected in both urine and serum as early as 7 to 10 days after conception.
Testing Includes:  Beta (ß)human chorionic gonadotropin.
