Hepatitis A Antibody (IgM)  (HAV IgM)

Synonyms:  HAV-AbM, Anti HAV, IgM
Specimen:  Blood; (1) SST (serum separator) or Red (no preservative) top vacutainer tube.
                        Volume:  Full primary tube
Minimum Volume:  500 microL serum
Collection:  If tube other than an SST is collected, transfer serum to a tightly capped plastic aliquot tube within 2 hours of collection for transport. Refrigerate at 2-8°C for 14 days.
Rejection Criteria:  Lipemic; icteric; hemolyzed; improper labeling.
Reference Range:  Negative
Methodology:  Microparticle enzyme immunoassay (MEIA)
Test Use:  Determine acute or subclinical Hepatitis A infection.
Additional Information:  This test cannot determine a patients immune status since it does not detect IgG anti-HAV.
Testing Includes:  Antibody to Hepatitis A (IgM).
