Amino Acid Quanitative- Plasma  (Ref Test)

Synonyms:  Amino Screen
Specimen:  Blood; (1) Green (lithium heparin) top vacutainer tube.
                        Volume:  Full primary tube
Minimum Volume:  1 mL plasma
Collection:  Remove plasma from cells within one hour of collection and freeze in a plastic purple screw capped aliquot tube for transport.
Rejection Criteria:  Hemolysis; thawed specimen; specimen collected with anticoagulant other than heparin; imprope labeling.

Methodology: 
Test Use:  To test for inherited metabolic disorders.
Additional Information:  Patients should not take antihistamines and oral contraceptives for 72 hours prior to specimen collection. ****Specimen may be sent to Greenwood Genetics upon request. (Amino Gwd)
