Specimen: | Blood; (1) SST (serum separator), Red (no preservative), Green (lithium heparin) or Gray (sodium fluoride and potassium oxalate) top vacutainer tube.
A fasting glucose is drawn and analyzed. If the fasting glucose does not exceed 140 mg/dL, a 100 gram glucose drink is administered. |
Volume: | Full primary tube for each collection |
Minimum Volume: | 100 microL of serum/plasma or microtainer |
Collection: | After ingestion of the drink, samples are drawn at the timed intervals; 1 hour, 2 hours and 3 hours.
Separate serum form cells as soon as possible. Transfer serum or plasma to a tightly capped plastic aliquot tube within 2 hours of collection for transport.
Refrigerate at 2-8°C for 7 days. |
