Glucose - One Hour Post 50 grams  (GTT 1 HR)

Specimen:  Blood; (1) SST (serum separator), Red (no preservative), Green (lithium heparin) or Gray (sodium flouride and potassium oxalate) top vacutainer tube. Collect specimen 1 hour after completion of drink.
                        Volume:  Full primary tube
Minimum Volume:  100 microL serum/plasma or microtainer
Collection:  If tube other than an SST or PST (plasma separator tube) is collected, transfer serum or plasma to a tightly capped plastic aliquot tube for transport within 2 hours of collection. Refrigerate at 2-8°C for 7 days; sodium fluoride and potassium oxalate is stable at room temperature for 24 hours.
Rejection Criteria:  Gross hemolysis; improper labeling.
Reference Range:  100-150 mg/dl
Methodology: 
Test Use:  Screen for glucose intolerance. In pregnant women an GTT using a 50 gm glucose level is suggested for screening.
