CBC  (CBC ND or CBC )

Synonyms:  Complete Blood Count, Hemogram (automated differential included), Hemogram with manual differential
Specimen:  Blood; (1) Purple (EDTA) top vacutainer tube or (2) full Purple mictrotainers.
                        Volume:  Primary tube
Minimum Volume:  2 Purple microtainers
Collection:  If specimen is not received in the laboratory within 4 hours of collection, prepare 2 peripheral blood smears. Specimen is stable for 24 hours at room temperature or 48 hours refrigerated at 2-8°C(peripheral slides must be made).
Rejection Criteria:  Clotted; hemolysis; specimen age; improper labeling.

Methodology:  Sysmex XN9000
Test Use:  Evaluate the concentration, struction and function of the formed elements of whole blood, I.e., leukecytes, erythrocytes, and platelets as well as evaluation and monitoring of disease states that include anemias, leukemias, and myeloproliferative disorder
Additional Information:  CBC can be ordered with hemogram only or with manual differential.
