Cardiac Profile  (CP BASE)
|
Synonyms:
| Cardiac Enzyme Series |
Specimen: | Blood; (1) Green (lithium or sodium heparin) top vacutainer tube. |
Volume: | Full primary tube |
Minimum Volume: | 500 mL plasma |
Collection: | Remove plasma and transfer to a tightly capped plastic aliquot tube within 2 hours of collection for transport.
Refrigerate at 2-8°C for 14 days; freeze at -20°C for 8 weeks.
|
Rejection Criteria: | Moderate to severe hemolysis; improper labeling. |
Reference Range: | Less than 0.6 ng/ml- considered to be negative, hovever any detactable value may be considered useful in risk stratification; 0.6-1.5 ng/mL- may indicate an ischemic episode; Greater than 1.5 ng/ml- Indicates myocardial damage. |
Methodology: | CTNI method is a homogeneous, sandwich chemiluminescent immunoassay based on LOCI® technology |
Test Use: | Measurements of cardiac troponin I are used to aid in the diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and in the risk stratification of patients with acute coronary syndromes with respect to their relative risk of mortality. |
Additional Information: | |
Testing Includes: | If Troponin is greater than or equal to 0.6 on baseline sample, CKMB is performed. If baseline Troponin is greater than 1.5, the 3-hour sample is not performed. If Troponin values are all less than 0.6 at 0, 3, and 6 hours, the 12-hour is not performed. |
Testing Facility: | AnMed Laboratory |
